Megaelosia boticariana Giaretta and Aguiar, 1998, J. Herpetol., 32: 80. Holotype: ZUEC 9561, by original designation. Type locality: "Parque Florestal do Itapetinga, Municipality of Atibaia, state of São Paulo, southeastern Brazil".
Hylodes boticarianus — Dubois, Ohler, and Pyron, 2021, Megataxa, 5: 179, by implication.

Known only from the type locality (Parque Florestal do Itapetinga, Municipality of Atibaia), as well as São Francisco Xavier, Municipality of São Jose dos Campos, São Paulo, Brazil); expected in adjacent Minas Gerais, Brazil.

Most similar to Megaelosia massarti according to the original publication. Muscat, Stuginski, Nunes, Martins, Augusto-Alves, Vittorazzi, Toledo, and Moroti, 2020, Herpetol. Notes, 13: 573–577, discussed habitat, provided a new record, and mapped the species. Sichieri, Moroti, Costa, Muscat, and Nunes, 2020, Zootaxa, 4896: 140–144, redescribed larval morphology and commented on natural history.
