Known only from the type locality (Campos do Jordão, São Paulo, Brazil).

Verdade and Rodrigues, 2009 "2008", Herpetologica, 64: 452-457, discussed the taxonomic status of this species. Nogueira-Costa, Almeida-Santos, Cruz, and Caramaschi, 2012, Zootaxa, 3581: 86-88, reported on larval morphology.
