Comment

Although DRF considers it questionable practice to name taxa in supplemental electronic files, the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature (1999) does not preclude this inasmuch as the name is registered via Zoobank and all explicit requirements were met. Morphology, advertisement call, and molecular markers were detailed in the original publication, where the species, formerly confused with Leptodactylus cunicularius, was assigned to the Leptodactylus fuscus group. For those inclined to believe that taxonomic changes in electronic supplemental data associated with the original publication are not permissible, the authors published a second paper (Carvalho, Seger, Magalhães, Lourenço, and Haddad, 2021, Bionomina, 22: 42–45) that instantiates the name.
