Comment
In the Leptodactylus pentadactylus group according to the original publication; subsequently transferred to the Leptodactylus melanonotus group by McCranie, Wilson, and Williams, 1986, J. Herpetol., 20: 560–562. Heyer, de Sá, McCranie, and Wilson, 1996, Herpetol. Nat. Hist., 4: 169–174, described the advertisement call, discussed relationships and natural history. See account by McCranie and Wilson, 2002, Amph. Honduras: 455–458. Reviewed by Heyer, de Sá, and Muller, 2002, Cat. Am. Amph. Rept., 743: 1–3. Heyer, de Sá, and Muller, 2005, in Donnelly et al. (eds.), Ecol. Evol. Tropics: 81–101, discussed the phylogenetic relationships of this species. McCranie, 2007, Herpetol. Rev., 38: 38, summarized the departmental distribution in Honduras. See photograph, map, description of geographic range and habitat, and conservation status in Stuart, Hoffmann, Chanson, Cox, Berridge, Ramani, and Young, 2008, Threatened Amph. World: 402. Köhler, 2011, Amph. Cent. Am.: 276–281, provided a brief summary of natural history and identification key for the species of Leptodactylus in Central America and provided a range map and photograph for this species. In the Leptodactylus latrans species group of de Sá, Grant, Camargo, Heyer, Ponssa, and Stanley, 2014, S. Am. J. Herpetol., 9(Spec.
