Comment
Although not assigned to any of the nominal subfamilies, most likely associated with Mantellinae (sensu stricto) according to the tree presented in the original publication. Raselimanana, Glaw, and Vences, 2007, Zootaxa, 1557: 67-68, presented morphological evidence that suggests that this taxon is the sister taxon of Mantellinae, although they did not include Boophinae in their comparisons. Glaw and Vences, 2007, Field Guide Amph. Rept. Madagascar, Ed. 3: 228, placed this taxon in Mantellinae. Kurabayashi, Sumida, Yonekawa, Glaw, Vences, and Hasegawa, 2008, Mol. Biol. Evol., 25: 874-891, provided equivocal molecular evidence that Tsingymantis is the sister taxon of Laliostominae + Boophinae. Wollenberg, Vieites, Glaw, and Vences, 2011, BMC Evol. Biol., 11 (217) : 1-15, suggested that Tsingymantis is basal to the remainder of Mantellinae. Pyron and Wiens, 2011, Mol. Phylogenet. Evol., 61: 543-583, excluded Tsingymantis from their molecular study.
