Expected to have a larger range in the Central Highlands of Vietnam and adjacent Laos. Stuart, Rowley, Tran, Le, and Hoang, 2011, Zootaxa, 2804: 36, commented on eye color. Poyarkov, Nguyen, Popov, Geissler, Pawangkhanant, Neang, Suwannapoom, and Orlov, 2021, Russ. J. Herpetol., 28 (3A): 33, noted that the record (as Vibrissaphora cf. ngoclinhensis) from Chu Yang Sin National Park (Dak Lak Province, Vietnam) by Orlov, Nguyen, and Ho, 2008, Russ. J. Herpetol., 15: 83, requires further examination.
