Distribution
Alpine coniferous forest and adjacent streams and small rivers at the type locality on Gaoligong Mountain in Gongshan County, Nujiang Lisu Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province, China; it may be found further southward along the Gaoligong Mountain Range and on the western slope of the mountain in adjacent Kachin State, Myanmar.

Comment
Molecular markers, morphology, and morphometrics noted in the original publication where this species was suggested to be the sister taxon of Scutiger mammatus. Confused previously with Scutiger gongshanensis according to the original publication.
