Comment
Closely related to Cophixalus biroi according to the original publication. Kraus and Allison, 2006, Herpetol. Rev., 37: 364–368, provided records for Papua New Guinea. Pyron and Wiens, 2011, Mol. Phylogenet. Evol., 61: 543–583, suggested that Cophixalus balbus is phylogenetically imbedded within Oreophryne. Kraus, 2013, Herpetol. Rev., 44: 277, provided a record from the Prince Alexander Mountains, East Sepik Province, Papua New Guinea.
