Vietnamophryne aurantifusca Ninh, Le, Bui, Nguyen, Orlov, Bezman-Moseyko, Le, Nguyen, Hoang, Ziegler, and Nguyen, 2023, Zootaxa, 5374: 509. Holotype: IEBR A.5242, by original designation. Type locality: "in the karst forest of Sinh Long Commune, Na Hang District, Tuyen Quang Province, Vietnam (22°31’03.4”N; 105°23’18.6”E, at an elevation of 1.056 m a.s.l.)". Comment

In a polytomy with Vietnamophryne orlovi and Vietnamophryne cuongi, according to the original publication, where comparative morphology and molecular markers were detailed. Poyarkov, Gorin, Le, Trofimets, Duong, Nguyen, Pawangkhanant, Suwannapoom, and Nguyen, 2026, Herpetozoa, Wien, 39: 147, provided a dot map of the species.
