Comment
Confused with Kalophrynus pleurostigma prior to its recognition. See comment under Kalophrynus pleurostigma. Closely related to Kalophrynus interlineatus according to the original publication. See map, description of geographic range and habitat, and conservation status in Stuart, Hoffmann, Chanson, Cox, Berridge, Ramani, and Young, 2008, Threatened Amph. World: 451. See account by Zug, 2015, Proc. California Acad. Sci., Ser. 4, 62: 170–171. Kurniawan, Septiadi, Fathoni, and Kadafi, 2022, Trop. Life Sci. Res., 33: 97, reported the species from Nusa Kambangan I., south coast of Java, Indonesia. Gonggoli, Fauzan, Kaprawi, Herlambang, Kirono, Wiridarma, Alif, and Hamidy, 2025, Zootaxa, 5646: 513, provided a detailed account including comparative adult morphology, molecular markers (supporting a close relationship with Kalophrynus minusculus), and advertisement call.
