Type locality: "from holes/hollows in the bank of a temporary pond in the Irrawaddy (Ayeyarwady) River Valley, in the suburbs of Pakokku, Pakoku District, Magway Division, Myanmar (coordinates N21.316°, E95.053°; elevation 59 m a. s. l.)". Distribution
Known currently only from two closely located areas in Pakokku District of Magway Division, central Myanmar: (1) suburbs of Pakokku city on the bank of the Irrawaddy River (the type locality) and (2) in the vicinity of Kan Pauk village, Yesagyo Township (ca. 30 km north of the type locality). Expected to occur more widely in the middle part of the Irrawaddy River Valley in Myanmar. Currently known from 60 to 220 m elevation.

Comment
Gorin, Solovyeva, Hasan, Okamiya, Karunarathna, Pawangkhanant, de Silva, Juthong, Milto, Nguyen, Suwannapoom, Haas, Bickford, Das, and Poyarkov, 2020, PeerJ, 8 (e9411): 1–47, placed this species in their Microhyla achatina group. Zug, 2022, Smithson. Contrib. Zool., 653: 31, briefly discussed identification, habitat, and range in Myanmar.
