Microhyla pineticola Poyarkov, Vassilieva, Orlov, Galoyan, Tran, Le, Kretova, and Geissler, 2014, Russ. J. Herpetol., 21: 100. Holotype: ZMMU A-5043, by original designation. Type locality: "Mt. Bidoup, Bidoup – Nui Ba National Park, Da Nhim River valley, Da Chais Commune, Lac Duong District, Lam Dong Province, Vietnam (coordinates 12°957.24 N 108°3944.28 E, elevation 1800 m a.s.l.)".

Distribution
970 m elevation in Chu Yang Sin National Park (Dak Lak Province) to 1800 m in Bidoup–Nui Ba National Park (Lam Dong Province), Vietnam.

Comment
Provisionally assigned to the Microhyla heymonsi species complex (a member of the Microhyla annectans group) according to the original publication, where external adult and larval morphology, and natural history were described. Gorin, Solovyeva, Hasan, Okamiya, Karunarathna, Pawangkhanant, de Silva, Juthong, Milto, Nguyen, Suwannapoom, Haas, Bickford, Das, and Poyarkov, 2020, PeerJ, 8 (e9411): 1–47, placed this species in their Microhyla achatina group. Poyarkov, Nguyen, Trofimets, and Gorin, 2020, Taprobanica, 9: 136–163, redelimited and redescribed the species and named a segregate from the Langbian Plateau in southern Vietnam, Microhyla neglecta. Hoang, Nguyen, Ninh, Luong, Pham, Nguyen, Orlov, Chen, Wang, Ziegler, and Jiang, 2021, ZooKeys, 1036: 47–74, provided placement in a mtDNA tree.
