Comment
Confused with Microhyla (now Nanohyla) annamensis prior to its description according to the original publication. Nguyen, Ho, and Nguyen, 2005, Checklist Amph. Rept. Vietnam: 45, provided specific localities for Vietnam. Bain, Nguyen, and Doan, 2007, Herpetol. Rev., 38: 107, provided a record from Thua Thien-Hue Province, Vietnam, and briefly discussed the range. Pham, Nguyen, Hoang, and Ziegler, 2016, Herpetol. Notes, 9: 35, provided a record for Thanh Hoa Province, Vietnam, and commented on the range. Gorin, Solovyeva, Hasan, Okamiya, Karunarathna, Pawangkhanant, de Silva, Juthong, Milto, Nguyen, Suwannapoom, Haas, Bickford, Das, and Poyarkov, 2020, PeerJ, 8 (e9411): 1–47, placed this species in their Microhyla (now Nanohyla) annectens group. Brakels, Maury, Phimmachak, and Nguyen, 2021, Herpetol. Rev., 52: 792, provided records from Xaychamphone District, Bolikhamsai Province, and Dakcheung District, Xekong Province, southeastern Laos. Duong and Ngo, 2022, Herpetol. Notes, 15: 751–762, discussed range in Vietnam and provided records for Binh Dinh Province. Ziegler, Ong, Hoang, Pham, and Nguyen, 2022, Acad. J. Biol., 44: 114, referred their earlier record of Microhyla cf. annamensis (Ziegler, 2002, Amph. Rept. Tieflandfeuchtwald–Schutzgebietes Vietnam: 1–342) from Ke Go Nature Reserve, Ha Tinh Province, Vietnam, to Nanohyla marmorata. Stuart, Seateun, Sivongxay, and Phimmachak, 2025 "2024", in Wildlife Lao PDR: 36–37, summarized (as Microhyla marmorata) literature, taxonomy, habitat, and detailed range for Laos.
