Removed from the synonymy of Limnodynastes dumerilii by Parkin, Rowley, Gillard, Sopniewski, Shea, and Donnellan, 2024, Ichthyol. & Herpetol., 112: 88 (who summarized the systematics, taxonomy, morphology, and molecular markers. Previously it had been placed in the synonymy of Limnodynastes dorsalis by Boulenger, 1882, Cat. Batr. Sal. Coll. Brit. Mus., Ed. 2: 261; synonymy with Limnodynastes dumerilii by Cope, 1865, Nat. Hist. Rev., N.S., 5: 97–120, Steindachner, 1868, Sitzungsber. Akad. Wiss. Wien, Phys. Math. Naturwiss. Kl., 57: 536, Günther, 1868, Zool. Rec., 4: 145, and Parker, 1940, Novit. Zool., 42: 48.
