Lechriodus platyceps Parker, 1940, Novit. Zool., 42: 28. Holotype: BMNH 1876.7.18.6, by original designation; reregistered as 1947.2.18.63 according to museum records. Type locality: "Arfak, Dutch New Guinea", Irian Jaya, Indonesia.

Platyplectrum platyceps — Dubois, Ohler, and Pyron, 2021, Megataxa, 5: 201, by implication.

Common Names

Arfak Cannibal Frog (Frank and Ramus, 1995, Compl. Guide Scient. Common Names Amph. Rept. World: 94).

Distribution

Mountains of western and central Papua (Indonesia) east into West Sepik Province, Papua New Guinea.

Menzies, 2006, Frogs New Guinea & Solomon Is.: 61–62, provided a brief account. Oliver, Davie-Rieck, Ramdani, Dashper, Kusuma, Lee, Rittmeyer, Clancy, Hamidy, Thompson, Fouquet, Ferreira, and Richards, 2025, Pacific Conserv. Biol., 31(PC24063): 1–12, as part of a larger discussion of the role of citizen science in documenting species ranges in Melanesia noted that iNaturalist observations suggest a range extension to the western edge of the Vogelkop Peninsula in Papua, Indonesia.
