Common Names

Simbang Big-eyed Treefrog (Frank and Ramus, 1995, Compl. Guide Scient. Common Names Amph. Rept. World: 61).

Distribution

Several sites on the eastern end of the Huon Peninsula at low to moderate elevations (Morobe Province, Papua New Guinea).

Endemic: Papua New Guinea

For discussion and redescription of the type see Tyler, 1965, Proc. Zool. Soc. London, 145: 92-94. Menzies, 2006, Frogs New Guinea & Solomon Is.: 164, provided a brief account. Menzies, 2014, Alytes, 30: 42-68, discussed this species and placed it in his Nyctimystes cheesmani group.
