Litoria rivicola Günther and Richards, 2005, Russ. J. Herpetol., 12: 196. Holotype: ZMB 67360, by original designation. Type locality: "near the former Biological Station PUSPPENS-SAT at the '54 km' site along the Nabire-Mapira road, about 30 km direct line SE of Nabire, 750 m a.s.l., 3° 29.517′ S, 135° 43.913′ E, Papua Province, Indonesia".
