See comments under Pelodytes punctatus for possible relevant literature. See Dufresnes, 2019, Amph. Eur., N. Afr., & Middle East: 48, for brief summary of identifying morphology, range map, and biology as well as a photograph. Dufresnes, Pribille, Alard, Gonçalves, Amat, Crochet, Dubey, Perrin, Fumagalli, Vences, and Martínez-Solano, 2020, Heredity, 124: 423–438, discussed the evidence for species delimitation and the narrow zone of hybridization with Pelodytes ibericus.
