Phrynobatrachus danko Blackburn, 2010, Afr. J. Herpetol., 59: 39. Holotype: MCZ A-139529, by original designation. Type locality: "Federal Republic of Nigeria, Taraba State, Kurmin Danko Forest Reserve, N 07° 06′ 54.6″, E 011° 01′ 35.8″, ca. 1 500m elevation."

Distribution
Currently know only from the Kurmin Danko Forest Reserve on the western edge of the Mambilla Plateau in Taraba State, Nigeria.

Comment
Most closely related to Phrynobatrachus werneri and Phrynobatrachus manengoubensis according to the original publication. Channing and Rödel, 2019, Field Guide Frogs & Other Amph. Afr.: 282–283, provided a brief account, photograph, and range map. In the Phrynobatrachus natalensis group of Goutte, Reyes-Velasco, and Boissinot, 2019, ZooKeys, 824: 53–70. In the Phrynobatracus werneri group according to Gvoždík, Nečas, Dolinay, Zimkus, Schmitz, and Fokam, 2020, PeerJ, 8 (e8393): 1–52.
