Comment
See Schiøtz, 1964, Vidensk. Medd. Dansk Naturhist. Foren., 127: 23. Removed from the synonymy of Rana maccarthyensis by Guibé and Lamotte, 1957, Bull. Inst. Franç. Afr. Noire, Ser. A, 19: 942, where it had been placed by Loveridge, 1955, Rev. Suisse Zool., 62: 130. Monasterio, Álvarez, Trape, and Rödel, 2016, Herpetol. Notes, 9: 1–6, provided a record from Dindefelo Natural Community Reserve, southeastern Senegal. Rödel, 2000, Herpetofauna W. Afr., 1: 140–141, provided an account. See brief comments by Rödel, Bangoura, and Böhme, 2004, Herpetozoa, Wien, 17: 105–106, regarding range and natural history. Hillers, Bangoura, Loua, and Rödel, 2024, in Wright, H.E. et al. (eds.), Rapid Biol. Assess. Boké Pref., NW Guinea: 134, commented on presence and habitat of specimens from the Boké Region, northwestern Guinea. Channing and Rödel, 2019, Field Guide Frogs & Other Amph. Afr.: 330–331, provided a brief account, photograph, and range map. Kanga, Kouamé, Zogbass, Gongomin, Agoh, Kouamé, Konan, Adepo-Gourène, Gourène, and Rödel, 2021, Amph. Rept. Conserv., 15: 71–107, commented on conservation status, identification, range, and habitat on the Ivory Coast side of Mont Nimba. Hillers, Bangoura, Loua, and Rödel, 2024, in Wright, H.E. et al. (eds.), Rapid Biol. Assess. Boké Pref., NW Guinea: 131–136, commented on habitat of specimens from the Boké Region, northwestern Guinea. Not assigned to species group by Nečas, Mazuch, Czurda, Elmi, Rödel, and Gvoždík, 2025, Afr. J. Herpetol., 73: 236–260, on the basis of lack of molecular evidence, although they suggested a relationship to Ptychadena schillukorum and/or trinodis on the basis of morphology.
