Comparative morphology and molecular markers detailed in the original publication. Li, Li, Zhang, Yi, Yuan, Huang, and Liu, 2025, ZooKeys, 1257: 39–54, discussed the morphology and molecular markers of the species, and named a subspecies from the Yumeng Mountains of northeastern Yunnan, China.
