Comment
Prior to the revision of Frost, Grant, Faivovich, Bain, Haas, Haddad, de Sá, Channing, Wilkinson, Donnellan, Raxworthy, Campbell, Blotto, Moler, Drewes, Nussbaum, Lynch, Green, and Wheeler, 2006, Bull. Am. Mus. Nat. Hist., 297, placed in the Section Hylarana, subsection Hydrophylax, subgenus Sylvirana of Dubois, 1992, Bull. Mens. Soc. Linn. Lyon, 61: 326. See account by Bourret, 1942, Batr. Indochine: 312–314. See comments by Inger, Orlov, and Darevsky, 1999, Fieldiana, Zool., N.S., 92: 20–21. Chan-ard, 2003, Photograph. Guide Amph. Thailand: 130–131, provided a very brief account, map for Thailand, and photograph. Nguyen, Ho, and Nguyen, 2005, Checklist Amph. Rept. Vietnam: 30, provided specific localities for Vietnam. Chuaynkern, Ohler, Inthara, Kumtong, and Dubois, 2004, Nat. Hist. J. Chulalongkorn Univ., 4: 1–13, discussed the range. Stuart and Emmett, 2006, Fieldiana, Zool., N.S., 109: 9, provided a record for the Cardamom Mountains, southwestern Cambodia. See discussion by Ohler, 2007, Alytes, 25: 55–74. Fei, Ye, Jiang, and Xie, 2008, Acta Zootaxon. Sinica, 33: 199–206, provided a key to the close relatives of this species. They distinguished Hylarana bannanica from Hylarana milleti, unlike Ohler, 2007, Alytes, 25: 70, who placed them in synonymy on the basis of morphological characteristics, which appeared after the paper by Fei et al. had gone to press. Neang and Holden, 2008, Field Guide Amph. Cambodia: 81, provided a photograph, brief account of identification, ecology, and range in Cambodia. Fei, Ye, and Jiang, 2010, Colored Atlas of Chinese Amph.: 302–303, provided a brief account (as Hylarana bannanica). Chan-ard, Cota, and Makchai, 2011, Amph. E. Region Thailand: 104–105, provided a photograph and brief account for the Eastern Region of Thailand, and (p. 145) detailed the range in Thailand. See account, photograph, and map for Vietnam in Vassilieva, Galoyan, Poyarkov, and Geissler, 2016, Photograph. Field Guide Amph. Rept. Lowland S. Vietnam: 104–105. Niyomwan, Srisom, and Pawangkhanant, 2019, Field Guide Amph. Thailand: 346–347, provided a brief account (description, photographs, habitat, and range) for Thailand (in Thai). Zug and Mulcahy, 2020 "2019", Amph. Rept. S. Tanintharyi: 55–56, provided a brief account for South Tanintharyi, peninsular Myanmar. Zug, 2022, Smithson. Contrib. Zool., 653: 39, briefly discussed identification, habitat, and range in Myanmar.
