In the Section Rana, subgenus Rana, Rana temporaria group of Dubois, 1992, Bull. Mens. Soc. Linn. Lyon, 61: 333. Records for this species from the Pyrenees are based on misidentifications according to Boulenger, 1898, Tailless Batr. Eur., 2: 325; and Dubois, 1982, Alytes, 1: 56–70. Mensi, Lattes, Macario, Salvidio, Giacoma, and Balletto, 1992, Zool. J. Linn. Soc., 105: 293–311, reported on phylogenetic relationships. Crespo, 1997, in Gasc et al. (eds.), Atlas Amph. Rept. Eur.: 142–143, discussed range and relevant literature. Barbadillo-Escrivá, 1987, Guia INCAFO Anf. Rept. Peninsula Iberica: 178–181, provided an account. Nöllert and Nöllert, 1992, Die Amph. Eur.: 338–341, provided an account and polygon map. Arnold, 2002, Rept. Amph. Eur., Ed. 2: 87, provided a brief account, figure, and map, as did Günther IN Engelmann, Fritzsche, Günther, and Obst, 1993, Lurche Kriechtiere Eur.: 165–166. Esteban, 1997, in Pleguezuelos (ed.), Dist. Biogeogr. Anf. Rep. Esp. Portugal: 161–163, provided a brief account, photograph, and detailed map. See statement of geographic range, habitat, and conservation status (as Rana iberica) in Stuart, Hoffmann, Chanson, Cox, Berridge, Ramani, and Young, 2008, Threatened Amph. World: 632. Speybroeck, Beukema, Bok, and Van Der Voort, 2016, Field Guide Amph. Rept. Brit. Eur.: 176–179, provided a brief account and range map. See Dufresnes, 2019, Amph. Eur., N.
