Rana taihangensis Chen in Shen, Xu, Yang, Chen, Xiao, and Chen, 2022, Asian Herpetol. Res., 13: 149. Holotype: HNNU2104II018, by original designation. Type locality: "Huixian City (35°37’43.60’’N, 113°36’24.84’’E, 1025 m a.s.l.) in Henan Province, China."

Distribution

Henan, Hebei, Shandong, Shanxi, and Shaanxi Provinces, Beijing City, Tianjin City (Liaoning Province), and Ningxia Hui and Nei Monggol Autonomous Regionm China, 116 to 1943 m elevation.

In the Rana cheninensis group according to the original publication, where comparative adult and larval morphology, morphometrics, and molecular markers were detailed. The species was formerly confused with Rana chensinensisBorzée, 2024, Continental NE Asian Amph.: 96–99, provided a detailed account (distribution including a polygon map, habitat, ecology, conservation, photos of larvae and adults, identification tools) for northeastern Asia. Qiu, Zhou, Qi, Wang, Zhou, Lu, Xu, Yuan, Liang, Zhu, Li, Wang, Shi, and Li, 2024, Sichuan J. Zool., 43: 326–335, reported on distribution. morphology, and provided a cytb tree that places the species as the sister of Rana kukunoris
