Type locality: "Nonggang National Nature Reserve, Longzhou country [sic], Guangxi, China, near the Sino-Vietnam border (22.5233° N, 106.9523° E, alt. 216 m a.s.l)". Gracixalus waza Nguyen, Le, Pham, Nguyen, Bonkowski, and Ziegler, 2013, Organisms Divers. Evol., 13: 206 (4 June 2013). Holotype: IEBR A.2012.2, by original designation. Type locality: "karst forest near Ban Coong Village (22° 43.216′ N, 106° 39.437′ E), Duc Quang Commune, Ha Lang District, Cao Bang Province, Vietnam, at an elevation of ca. 480 m". Synonymy by Nguyen, Duong, Luu, and Poyarkov, 2020, J. Nat. Hist., London, 54: 24, who discussed the publication date of this species and its senior synonym.

Distribution

Known from the type locality (Nonggang National Nature Reserve, Longzhou county, Guangxi, China (216 m elevation), and Cao Bang and Bac Kan Provinces, Vietnam.

Comment

Gracilixalus waza is in a group composed of Gracixalus jinxiuensis and Gracixalus ananjevae according to the original publication. Matsui, Khonsue, Panha, and Eto, 2015, Zool. Sci., Tokyo, 32: 204–215, discussed its phylogenetic relationships. Pham, An, Herbst, Bonkowski, Ziegler, and Nguyen, 2017, Bonn Zool. Bull., 66: 37–53, provided records for Cao Bang Province, Vietnam, along with observations on morphology and natural history. Nguyen, Duong, Luu, and Poyarkov, 2020, J. Nat. Hist., London, 54: 24, who discussed the species, its synonymy, and its phylogenetic relationships. Luong, Do, Hoang, Phan, Nguyen, and Pham, 2022, Biodiversity Data J., 10(e75595): 17–19, provided a record, photograph, and description of a specimen from Bac Kan Province, Vietnam.
