Known from the type locality in the Central Highlands of Vietnam (Buon Luoi, An Khe District), and the Annamite Mountains of adjacent Laos, ca. 1000 m elevation.


Most similar to Rhacophorus appendiculatus and Rhacophorus verrucosus according to the original publication. Stuart, 1999, in Duckworth et al. (eds.), Wildlife in Lao PDR: 49, reported the species in Laos. Nguyen, Ho, and Nguyen, 2005, Checklist Amph. Rept. Vietnam: 39, provided specific localities for Vietnam. Orlov, Nguyen, and Ho, 2008, Russ. J. Herpetol., 15: 67-84, provided a photograph (as Rhacophorus baliogaster) and a key to differentiate this species from others in Vietnam.
