Distribution

Montane forests of northeastern India (known currently from Arunachal Pradesh, Megalaya, and Mizoram), adjacent eastern Xizang (China) and Samdrup District, Bhutan, and related but unnamed species in northern Myanmar (Kachin) and likely in adjacent Yunnan, China (see comment).

Synonymy with Rhacophorus appendiculatus verrucosus by Wolf, 1936, Bull. Raffles Mus., 12: 162, and Dubois, 1987 "1986", Alytes, 5: 75. This synonymy accepted only provisionally by Inger, 1954, Fieldiana, Zool., 33: 374. This synonymy rejected, without comment, by Zhao and Adler, 1993, Herpetol. China: 158, Inger and Tan, 1996, Raffles Bull. Zool., 44: 567; Ye, Fei, and Hu, 1993, Rare and Economic Amph. China: 326. (Nature, London), 7 (16124): 1–13, noted that records of Kurixalus verrucosus from Xizang, China, are referable to Kurixalus naso, and also noted two unnamed species in the Kachin, Myanmar, region. Che, Jiang, Yan, and Zhang, 2020, Amph. Rept. Tibet: 335–339, provided a detailed account for Tibet, China. Wangyal, Bower, Sherub, Tshewang, Wangdi, Rinchen, Puntsho, Tashi, Koirala, Bhandari, Phuntsho, Koirala, Ghalley, Chaida, Tenzin, Powrel, Tshewang, Raika, Jamtsho, Kinley, Gyeltshen, Tashi, Nidup, Wangdi, Phuentsho, Norbu, Wangdi, Wangchuk, Tobgay, Dorji, and Das, 2020, Herpetol. Rev., 51: 793, identified a photograph as of this species from Bhutan. Lalronunga, Vanramliana, Lalramliana, and Lalhmingliani, 2021, Zootaxa, 4974: 385, suggested that Kurixalus yangi may be a synonym of Kurixalus naso. Shangpliang, Shadap, Hooroo, Nongkynrih, Kharkongor, Rangad, and Tron, 2021, Curr. Herpetol., Kyoto, 40: 137–150, described the larval development. Zug, 2022, Smithson. Contrib. Zool., 653: 41, briefly discussed identification, habitat, and range in Myanmar. Nanda and Saikia, 2023, Bull. Arunachal Forest Res., 37: 38–41, discussed the range and added a locality in Upper Subansiri District, Arunachal Pradesh, India.
