Philautus erythrophthalmus Stuebing and Wong, 2000, Raffles Bull. Zool., 48: 294. Holotype: SMM AMP 2521, by original designation. Type locality: "Mt. Muruk Mio, Sipitang District, Sabah (FPS: 4° 22.715′ N, 115° 50.125′ E)", Malaysia.

Known only from the type locality (Mount Muruk Mio, Sipitang District, southwestern Sabah, Malaysia); possibly extending into nearby northern Kalimantan, Indonesia.
