Philautus nianeae Stuart, Phimmachak, Seateun, and Sheridan, 2013, Zootaxa, 3745     : 75. Holotype. NCSM 80038, by original designation. Type locality: "Laos, Vientiane Province , Xaysomboun District [actually Longcheng District, Xaisomboun Province], Nam Ngum River, 19.01807° N 102.87633° E, 490 m elev."

Common Names

Niane's Shrub Frog (Stuart, Seateun, Sivongxay, and Phimmachak, 2025 "2024", in Wildlife Lao PDR: 43). 

Laotian Shrub Frog (Poyarkov, Nguyen, Popov, Geissler, Pawangkhanant, Neang, Suwannapoom, and Orlov, 2021, Russ. J. Herpetol., 28 (3A): 58). 

Distribution

Known from Bolikhamxai, Xaisomboun, and Khammouan Provinces in northeastern Laos, 471 to 979 m elevation

Comment

Most similar to Philautus abditus according to the original publication. Stuart, Seateun, Sivongxay, and Phimmachak, 2025 "2024", in Wildlife Lao PDR: 43, summarized literature, taxonomy, habitat, and detailed range for Laos, and corrected the type locality.
