Philautus surrufus Brown and Alcala, 1994, Proc. California Acad. Sci., Ser. 4, 48: 200. Holotype: CAS-SU 21013, by original designation. Type locality: "submontane forest (1800-1900 m) on the west side of Dapitan Peak, about 10 km SE of Masawan, Misamis Occidental Prov., Mindanao Island", Philippines.
