Philautus tytthus Smith, 1940, Rec. Indian Mus., 42: 475. Holotype: BMNH 1940.6.1.40 by original designation, now renumbered as 1947.2.5.92 according to museum records. Type locality: "26° 36′ N, 97° 52′ E .... Htingnan", Kachin, northern Myanmar.

Northern Myanmar (Kachin), possibly into adjacent Yunnan, China.

 Zug, 2022, Smithson. Contrib. Zool., 653: 42, briefly discussed habitat, range, and identification in Myanmar. Boruah, Deepak, and Das, 2025, Vert. Zool., Senckenberg, 75: 546, discussed the type series and on the basis of comparative morphology moved this species to Raorchestes
