Philautus umbra Dring, 1987, Amphibia-Reptilia, 8: 43. Holotype: BMNH 1978.1806, by original designation. Type locality: "pinnacles camp, 1200 m., Gunung Api, Gunung Mulu N. P., Fourth Division, Sarawak", Malaysia, Borneo.

Philautus (Philautus) umbra — Bossuyt and Dubois, 2001, Zeylanica, 6: 57.

English Names

Pinnacle Bubble-nest Frog (Frank and Ramus, 1995, Compl. Guide Scient. Common Names Amph. Rept. World: 113).

Distribution

Known only from elevations of 900-1300 m on Gunung Api in northern Sarawak, Malaysia (Borneo); possibly to be found in adjacent Brunei.

Comment

In the Philautus aurifasciatus group according to the original publication. See identification table by Manthey and Grossmann, 1997, Amph. Rept. Südostasiens: 122-123, to compare this species to other rhacophorids of the Sunda Shelf region.
