Philautus hoffmanni Meegaskumbura and Manamendra-Arachchi, 2005, Raffles Bull. Zool., Suppl., 12: 318. Holotype: WHT 6120, by original designation. Type locality: "Corbett's Gap (Knuckles Hills), elevation 1,245 m (07° 22′ N, 80° 51′ E)", Sri Lanka.

Comment
The sister species of Pseudophilautus asankai (as Philautus), according to the original publication. See photograph, map, description of geographic range and habitat, and conservation status in Stuart, Hoffmann, Chanson, Cox, Berridge, Ramani, and Young, 2008, Threatened Amph. World: 524. Ellepola, Herath, Manamendra-Arachchi, Wijayathilaka, Senevirathne, Pethiyagoda, and Meegaskumbura, 2021, PLoS One, 16(10: e0258594): 10, noted that on molecular criteria alone this nominal species is likely conspecific with Pseudophilautus asankai.
