Pseudophilautus newtonjayawardanei Wickramasinghe, Vidanapathirana, Rajeev, Ariyarathne, Chanaka, Priyantha, Bandara, and Wickramasinghe, 2013, J. Threatened Taxa, 5: 3843. Holotype: NMSL 2013.05.01 NH,, by original designation. Type locality: "Sripada (Peak Wilderness), Ratnapura District, Sabaragamuwa Province, Sri Lanka (06° 48’ 36” N & 80° 28’ 59” E; 1559 m)". 

English Names

Newton Jayawardane’s Shrub Frog (original publication). 


Known only from the vicinity of the type locality (Sripada Peak, Peak Wilderness, Ratnapura District, Sabaragamuwa Province, Sri Lanka,  at elevations of 1800 to 2000 m). 


Contrary to the original description, Batuwita, De Silva, and Udugampala, 2019, J. Threatened Taxa, 11: 13126, noted that tympana are present in the holotype.
