Comment
Resurrected from the synonymy of Philautus microtympanum by Dutta and Manamendra-Arachchi, 1996, Amph. Fauna Sri Lanka: 202, where it had been placed by Wolf, 1936, Bull. Raffles Mus., 12: 173. Manamendra-Arachchi and Pethiyagoda, 2005, Raffles Bull. Zool., Suppl., 12: 181–185, provided an account and noted this species to resemble Philautus papillosus. Dutta, 1997, Amph. India Sri Lanka: 104, provided bibliography, systematic comments, and range. See photograph, map, description of geographic range and habitat, and conservation status in Stuart, Hoffmann, Chanson, Cox, Berridge, Ramani, and Young, 2008, Threatened Amph. World: 530. Bopage, Wewelwala, Krvavac, Jovanovic, Safarek, and Pushpamal, 2011, Salamandra, 47: 173–177, reported the species in lowland forest in the Kanneliya Forest of southwestern Sri Lanka. See comment under Pseudophilautus papillosus.
