Philautus montanus Rao, 1937, Proc. Indian Acad. Sci., Ser. B, 6: 415. Holotype: CCB, now lost according to Dubois, 1984, Alytes, 3: 157. BMNH 1947.2.26.98 (formerly 1874.4.29.1202) designated neotype by Bossuyt and Dubois, 2001, Zeylanica, 6: 51. Type locality: "Hills of Kempholey, Hassan", Karnataka, India. Junior primary homonym of Philautus montanus Taylor, 1920, when in Philautus.
Philautus hassanensis Dutta, 1985, J. Bombay Nat. Hist. Soc., 82: 220. Replacement name for Philautus montanus Rao, 1937.

Distribution
Known onlyfrom the type locality (Hills of Kempholey, Hassan) and nearby in the Chikkamagaluru District of Karnata, India.
Comment
Removed from the synonymy of Raorchestes flaviventris by Abraham, Zachariah, and Cyriac, 2015, Zootaxa, 4048: 95, where it had been placed by Bossuyt and Dubois, 2001, Zeylanica, 6: 51.
