Species World: 544; NHMB 1180 designated lectotype by Forcart, 1946, Verh. Naturforsch. Ges. Basel, 57: 131. Type locality: "Totoiya-Thaul ca. 500 m.,, Bona-Thaul ca. 500 m., , and Boelawa-Gebirge ca. 1200 m.", Celebes, Indonesia.

Comment
Not assigned to subgenus by Dubois, 1987 "1986", Alytes, 5: 77. Wanger, Motzke, Saleh, and Iskandar, 2011, Salamandra, 47: 17–29, reported the species from central Sulawesi, Indonesia. Putri, Fahri, and Annawaty, 2018, Nat. Sci., J. Sci. Tech., Sulawesi, 7: 50–56, reported on the species' distribution in central Sulawesi, its natural history, and conservation status.
