Comment
Elevated from subspecies status under Rhacophorus pardalis by Herlambang, Sabinhaliduna, Trilaksono, Anita, Riyanto, Hamidy, Krone, Amini, Navarrete Méndez, Herr, and McGuire, 2025, Zootaxa, 5636: 121–143, on the basis of molecular distance, morphology, and morphometrics. Their results suggest that these two species are only distantly related, with Rhacophorus rhyssocephalus being more closely related to Rhacophorus monticola, Rhacophorus boeadii, and Rhacophorus edentulus than Rhacophorus pardalis. See comment under Rhacophorus pardalis for possibly relevant literature with which this taxon was formerly associated.
