Comment
In the Rhacophorus calcaneus group of Orlov, Poyarkov, Vassilieva, Ananjeva, Nguyen, Sang, and Geissler, 2012, Russ. J. Herpetol., 19:23–64. Rowley, Tran, Le, Hoang, and Altig, 2012, J. Nat. Hist., London, 46: 2969–2978, reported on larval life history and provided a second locality for the species. Nguyen, Matsui, Eto, and Orlov, 2014, Russ. J. Herpetol., 21: 274, rejected on the basis of 434 bp of mtDNA membership in the Rhacophorus calcaneus group. Dubois, Ohler, and Pyron, 2021, Megataxa, 5: 427, considered this species to represent a monotypic genus, Vampyrius, forming, on the basis of low statistical support, the sister taxon of Gracixalus. Vera Candioti, Dias, Rowley, Hertwig, Haas, and Altig, 2021, J. Morphol., 282: 769–778, reported on larval morphology.
