Comment

Pyron and Wiens, 2011, Mol. Phylogenet. Evol., 61: 543-583, considered this former subfamily of Ceratophryidae to be a distinct family based on lack of resolution among the constituent parts of former Ceratophryidae and Cycloramphidae (although they suggested a relationship with Batrachylidae, albeit with a low confidence measure. See comments under Ceratophryidae and Cycloramphidae for additional discussion of the systematic issues. Blackburn and Wake, 2011, In Zhang (ed.), Zootaxa, 3148: 39-55, briefly reviewed the taxonomic history of this taxon. Barcelos and Santos, 2023, Paleodivers. Palaeoenvironm., 103: 341–405, reviewed the fossil localities and the literature of the fossil history of this group in South America.
