Due to widespread translocations and introductions (some well-meaning) among drainages, this species represents the only lineage of Andrias in China so far genetically sampled not showing some level of introduced genes or translocated individuals. Raffaëlli, 2022, Salamanders & Newts of the World: 26-27, provided a detailed account of this species, with photographs, range map, and habitat description.
