Andrias sligoi (Boulenger, 1924)
Megalobatrachus sligoi Boulenger, 1924, Proc. Zool. Soc. London, 1924: 173. Holotype: Deposition not stated; BMNH 1945.11.7.1. (formerly II.1.1.1.a) according to Brame and Gorham, 1972, Checklist Living & Fossil Salamand. World (Unpubl. MS): 25, and museum records. Type locality: uncertain; presumed in the original to have come from the Chinese mainland near Hong Kong.

Distribution
Known from the Pearl/Nanling River Basin of eastern Yunnan, Guangxi, and Guangdong, China, although the details of the range are currently poorly understood. Introduced into the Kamogawa River drainage of southeastern Honshu, Japan.

Liang, Chen, Wang, Zhang, Wang, He, Wu, He, Xie, Li, Merilä, and Wei, 2019, Ecol. Evol., 9: 3879–3890, reported on mtDNA phylogeography of Andrias davidianus, finding 7 divergent geographically coherent clades, of which one of these, with the name Andrias sligoi applied, was removed from the synonymy of Andrias davidianus by Turvey, Marr, Barnes, Brace, Tapley, Murphy, Zhao, and Cunningham, 2019, Ecol. Evol., 9: 10070, where it had been placed by Thorn, 1968, Salamand. Eur. Asie Afr. Nord: 110. Li, 2011, Amph. Rept. Guangdong: 15, provided a brief account (as Andrias davidianus) for Guangdong, China, and photograph. See comment under Andrias davidianus for other relevant literature. Raffaëlli, 2022, Salamanders & Newts of the World: 25-26, provided a detailed account of this species, with photographs, range map, and habitat description. Nishikawa, Matsui, Yoshikawa, Tominaga, Eto, Fukuyama, Fukutani, Matsubara, Hattori, Iwato, Sato, Shimizu, Onuma, and Hara, 2024, Sci. Rep. (Nature, London), 14(24: 2575): 1–24, reported introduced populations and their hybrids (genetically confirmed) in Kamogawa River drainage of Japan.
