Onychodactylus kinneburi Yoshikawa, Matsui, Tanabe, and Okayama, 2013, Zootaxa, 3693: 443. Holotype: KUHE 43194, by original designation. Type locality: "from a small branch of Kuwaze River on Mt. Takanosu (133°16′E, 33°47′N, 1050 m a.s.l.) in Ino-cho (formerly Hongawa-mura), Kochi Prefecture, Japan".

Shikoku Clawed Salamander (original publication). 


Known from western Japan in the mountains in Shikoku and several localities in the Chugoku Mountains of western Honshu, all at elevants greater than 700 m; the eastern limit in Shikoku is Mount Tsurugi, Tokushima Prefecture, whereas the southwestern limit is Uchiko-cho (formerly Oda-cho), Ehime Prefecture. 


An unnamed species, the sister taxon of Onychodactylus kinneburi, from the Kinki Group of islands (Honshu, Japan) was noted in the original publication. Both this species and that one were previous confused with Onychodactylus japonicus  Raffaëlli, 2013, Urodeles du Monde, 2nd ed.: 49, provided a brief account, photo, and range map.
