Awajun Mushroomtongue Salamander (Raffaëlli, 2022, Salamanders & Newts of the World: 731).

Distribution

Known from northeastern Departamento San Martín, Peru, 411 to 1311 m elevation, from three localities: (1) Cordillera Escalera Regional Conservation Area; (2) Shucshuyacu; and (3) Chimbirillo at Cordillera Azul National Park.

Comment

Confused with Bolitoglossa altamazonica prior to its naming,  in the Bolitoglossa (Eladinea) adspersa species group, and the sister taxon of Bolitoglossa altamazonica + Bolitoglossa peruviana (both sensu stricto) according to the original publication. Raffaëlli, 2022, Salamanders & Newts of the World: 727, discussed this taxon as part of the Bolitoglossa "altamazonica" complex, and (pp. 731–732, provided an account summarizing systematics, life history, population status, and distribution (including a polygon map).
