Bolitoglossa capitana Brame and Wake, 1963, Contrib. Sci. Nat. Hist. Mus. Los Angeles Co., 69: 47. Holotype: MLS 1a, by original designation; now numbered MLS 183, according to Cruz-Rodríguez, Lynch, Cárdenas, and Caicedo-Portilla, 2021, Zootaxa, 4965: 267. Type locality: "Hacienda La Victoria [La Granja Infantil—an orphanage, 6 km north of Albán on the Albánto Sasaima Road] between Albán and Sasaima, 1780 meters (5840 feet), in the Cordillera Oriental about 50 km. NW Bogotá, Departamento de Cundinamarca, Colombia".

Distribution

Known only from the lower forested zone in the vicinity of the type locality (6 km north of Albán), in Cundinamarca, Colombia, 1780 m elevation; similar salamanders found at Laguna de Pedro Palo, Cundinamarca, Colombia.
