Distribution

Known only from the type locality in the Sierra de Mochitlán (although expected to be found throughout this sierra), Municipality of Mochitlán, Guerrero, Mexico, at 1800 m elevation, in humid oak forest.

In the subgenus Oaxakia, Bolitoglossa macrinii species group according to the original publication. Raffaëlli, 2022, Salamanders & Newts of the World: 785–786, provided an account summarizing systematics, life history, population status, and distribution (including a polygon map).
