Distribution
Tropical humid forests of the Andean foothills of Colombia in the departments of Caldas, Cundinamarca, and Boyacá: associated with the middle valley of the Magdalena River, on the eastern slope of the Cordillera Central, and the western slope of th Cordillera Oriental, 500 to 1200 m elevation.

Ovalle-Pacheco, Camacho-Rozo, and Arroyo, 2019, Check List, 15: 399, reported the species from Boyacá, Colombia, and commented on the range in Colombia. Raffaëlli, 2022, Salamanders & Newts of the World: 746–747, provided an account summarizing systematics, life history, population status, and distribution (including a polygon map).
