Comment

In the Bolitoglossa (Eladinea) subpalmata species group according to the original publication. Köhler, 2011, Amph. Cent. Am.: 40–69, compared this species with others from Central America and provided a map and photograph. Raffaëlli, 2013, Urodeles du Monde, 2nd ed.: 322, provided a brief account, photograph, and map, now out of date. Raffaëlli, 2022, Salamanders & Newts of the World: 691–692, provided an account summarizing systematics, life history, population status, and distribution (including a polygon map, now out of date). Arias, Chaves, Kubicki, and Parra-Olea, 2024, Zootaxa, 5537: 217, discussed the evidence for recognizing this species and suggested that pending substantially more molecular assaying that the species is not assignable to species group and most records of Bolitoglossa robinsoni actually refer to Bolitoglossa bramei or Bolitoglossa pygmaea, or unnamed species. Because of this they restricted the documented range to the type locality. They also noted that the paratype series is composed of a mix of species.
