Confused with Bolitoglossa altamazonica and Bolitoglossa paraensis prior to its naming according to the original publication. Raffaëlli, 2013, Urodeles du Monde, 2nd ed.: 337, provided a brief account, photograph, and range map.  Raffaëlli, 2022, Salamanders & Newts of the World: 723, discussed and mapped this taxon as part of the Bolitoglossa "altamazonica" complex, and (p. 733), provided an account summarizing systematics, life history, population status, and distribution (including a polygon map), including noting extralimital, possibly unvouchered specimens.
