Bolitoglossa veracrucis Taylor, 1951, Univ. Kansas Sci. Bull., 34: 189. Holotype: KU 26941, by original designation. Type locality: "at a point 35 km SE of Jesús Carranza (Santa Lucretia), elev. approx. 350 feet, Veracruz, Mexico".

Distribution

Known from east of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec in extreme southern Veracruz, extreme east-northeastern Oaxaca, and western Chiapas, Mexico, 100 to 1000 m elevation.

Formerly in the Bolitoglossa veracrucis group which now constitutes the subgenus Mayamandra according to Parra-Olea, García-París, and Wake, 2004, Biol. J. Linn. Soc., 81: 336. Raffaëlli, 2013, Urodeles du Monde, 2nd ed.: 318, provided a brief account, photograph, and map. Köhler, 2011, Amph. Cent. Am.: 40–69, compared this species with others from Central America and provided a map and photograph.(Raffaëlli, 2022, Salamanders & Newts of the World: 677–678, provided an account summarizing systematics, life history, population status, and distribution (including a polygon map).
